CAPABILITY TO PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL SERVICES

CHILDERS-CHILDERS, ARCHITECTS & ASSOCIATES, P.C. is a relatively small firm (under 10 people) with the philosophy that each project and each client deserves to receive special personal attention. Each licensed Architect in our firm has an extensive background in commercial, institutional and public housing with specified emphasis on Federal Housing Projects, seculars, restaurants, industrial, apartments and the related construction of these projects. The combined years of Architectural practice by the licensed Architects exceeds 97 years. Support personnel in the form of draftsmen, computer operators and data entrants is sufficient in numbers as required by their job description to produce the current office workload. Since 1970, Glen Childers has been recognized statewide for his work relating to Architectural Barriers removal to assist the Handicap and has been invited as guest lecturer at several University Architectural Schools in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana. The firm has an extensive ongoing effort in Handicap Barrier removal with state-of-the-art equipment and computer software to assist in ADA, UFAS and/or ANSI barrier identification, the removal of Architectural Barriers and compliance with Handicap Accessible requirements for rehab work. Response time of your design firm is extremely important, especially with respect to rehabilitation/renovation work that will demand prompt, job-site decision making.

HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY

Our office is very familiar with the processes necessary to implement the required physical changes to new or renovated structures for each area needing Handicap Accessibility provisions including the Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS) handbook, the Americans with Disabilities Act (A.D.A.) and the guidelines which are utilized by this office, particularly when converting existing structures into compliant facilities. This office has conducted a Barrier Removal Study for the East Central University and has designed handicap bathrooms, kitchens and entrance conversions for Federally funded Housing Projects as required by these standards. This office has developed a design for kitchen cabinet conversions and closet shelving for Handicap housing units in the form of an "adaptable system" that will function in conformance with UFAS Handicap requirements. This design has the option for “adaptable conversion” by easily adjusted components that will allow closet shelves and kitchen cabinets to be adjusted from fully handicap conforming to conventional height and standard-functioning cabinets therefore making the dwelling easily rentable to non-handicap tenants.
